FAQ
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION AND PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION?
A psychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of mood, emotions, and personality style. The evaluations examine all the unique factors that might be impacting a person’s psychological functioning, which can help your evaluator recommend the best treatment options based on your unique needs. A psychological evaluation is typically 3-4 hours.
A neuropsychological evaluation is conducted when there is concern that a patient may have suffered injury to the brain, either due to a head injury or medical condition. It involved various tests to measure attention, memory, language, executive functioning, motor skills, and emotional functioning. These evaluations help to diagnose conditions such as brain injury, dementia, learning disabilities, or other neurological disorders. These evaluations often take 6-8 hours to complete.
WHAT IS A CONCUSSION EVALUATION?
A concussion evaluation is a screener that is used to diagnose and evaluate the severity of a concussion, a type of mild brain injury. It assesses symptoms, cognitive function, balance, and other factors to guide treatment and determine when it is safe to return to normal activities. A concussion examination can be conducted at any time after a head injury; however, the sooner the better.
